About Us

About playgolfsolitaire.app

We publish a free, modern browser version of Golf Solitaire — the fast rank-matching patience game — with Classic and Relaxed rulesets, unlimited undo, hints, and a layout that works on any screen.

Our craft

One deck. One clean chain.

Read the board, chain what matches, turn the stock only when you must. That loop is everything we design around.

What we make

A free Golf Solitaire that stays in the browser

playgolfsolitaire.app is the site behind our version of Golf Solitaire. The product is a single-player card game: deal seven columns of five, seed one foundation card, and clear the tableau by chaining cards that are exactly one rank away from the foundation's top card.

We are not an app-store publisher and there is nothing to download. The game is the website. That keeps load times short, works on phones and desktops alike, and avoids an account wall. Best times, scores, longest chains, and streaks live in local browser storage on your device.

If you are comparing this to another Golf Solitaire site, this page only speaks for playgolfsolitaire.app. The rules, scoring, and rulesets described in our how-to-play guide and FAQ match this exact build.

Our story

From nine holes on paper to your browser tab

Golf Solitaire earned its name from real scorekeeping, and we treat that history as a responsibility to get the rules exactly right and the friction as close to zero as we can.

  1. 01

    A different family of patience

Golf Solitaire belongs to the rank-matching branch of patience games, alongside Tri Peaks and Pyramid, rather than the build-a-run branch that Klondike and FreeCell belong to. Its rules are simple enough to explain in a sentence: play a card one rank away from the last one played.

  2. 02

    The scoring that named it

The "golf" name comes from its traditional pen-and-paper scoring: play nine deals as nine "holes," score each one by the cards left on the tableau, and the lowest total after nine holes wins — exactly like a round of golf, where fewer strokes is better.

  3. 03

    This build

playgolfsolitaire.app is an independent, modern implementation of that ruleset, with both the traditional Classic rules and the popular Relaxed "turn the corner" variant. What is new is a rendering that is smooth on a phone, a layout that keeps every column on one screen, synthesized sound with a real mute, and a chain-scoring system that rewards reading the board instead of clicking through it.

What we stand for

Principles behind every deal

Instant to start

Open the page and a game is already dealt. No account wall, no download, no splash video — the columns are on the table before you finish reading this sentence.

Honest defaults

Classic or Relaxed, one pass through the stock, unlimited undo. Nothing is gated behind a "pro" toggle and nothing nags you to install an app.

Yours to keep

Best time, best score, longest chain, and win streak per ruleset live on your device. We do not hold your record hostage behind a login, because there is no login.

Free, for real

The whole game is free forever. No energy meters, no interstitial video ads between deals, no surprise paywall on the hint button.

Who it is for

Players who want a clean matching game

playgolfsolitaire.app is a family-friendly, single-player game with no chat and no store. A poor fit if you want multiplayer or live events; a good fit if you want the real game of Golf Solitaire, exactly as you remember it, on whatever screen is nearby.

  • Short sessions

A deal takes one to five minutes. Golf is built for a phone on the couch or a browser tab between tasks, not a long campaign.

  • Reading, not reflexes

There is no clock forcing a move and nothing to react to. The entire challenge is spotting which column to play and in what order.

  • Play without an account

Your record stays on the device you played on. That is a deliberate trade: instant play and real privacy, with no cloud restore.

Why this site

How playgolfsolitaire.app is different

Golf Solitaire has many implementations online. This one exists to ship a single honest, fast version — correct rules, both rulesets, and no clutter.

  • Both rulesets, done right

Classic and Relaxed are both first-class, each with its own saved stats, so you can compare a win rate under the strict rules against the friendlier wrap-around ones.

  • Chain scoring that means something

Every card played without touching the stock raises the chain bonus, giving you a reason to read three moves ahead instead of clicking the first match you see.

  • No clutter

No auto-playing video, no fake "download our app" banners, no dark patterns around the settings. The how-to-play guide and FAQ describe this exact engine, not a generic write-up.

How we build

Designed for the browser you already have

The game runs entirely on the web: fast loads, tap / drag / keyboard controls, and progress that stays local unless you clear your browser data. We use lightweight analytics to see what helps players — never to gate the game behind a profile. The engine on the home page is the one described on our rules pages, so search results and the live game never drift apart.

  • Play anywhere

Phone, tablet, and desktop share one board. Tap or drag with a touchscreen or mouse, or use the keyboard shortcuts for the stock, undo, and hint.

  • Progress on your device

Best time, best score, longest chain, and streak per ruleset are stored locally. You own the continuity of your record without signing up.

  • Quiet improvement

We watch aggregate usage through Google Analytics to improve pacing and polish. Details are in our Privacy Policy — never as a sales pitch.
